Still - A Poem
STILL
I am still
Inside and
Without
My heart is too thick
Too sluggish
And I cannot move.
The blackening atmosphere
Thickens around my body
And I cannot move.
Once my mind is still
I see the grief
In the lacy tree branches
I see the dull pain
In the quieting twilight
I see an empty ache
On the walls of the room
I see a quiet misery
In the way the room sits still -
And I cannot move
And I stare
And I ache
And I cannot move.
