Wow, what a wonderful evening! Dawn and Tony also invited Matt and Richelle Voglewede, and Jeanne! It turned into an uproariously funny good time! After dinner we played Pictionary…I’m better at that than I remembered.

Well this morning was awesome. I got tons of sleep, and didn’t really wake up until noon. Then I made a mandala…kind of…I didn’t color it, but I laid on my bed and relaxed my body and concentrated on my breathing and my feelings until images started flowing freely in my brain and it was sooooo peaceful. I still feel totally relaxed. Anyway, I re-did this exercise we’d done in 12th grade Creative Writing class, where you figure out what animal, tree, element, mineral, number you were…etc. The difference between that and taking the silly surveys is that this time you actually think about it while your body is totally relaxed and your brain is relaxed and you do it completely without analytical thought and just go with whatever you know to be true. So it turned out totally cool. Then you write out all the things you symbolize, then you write out adjectives that describe them, then you think of opposite adjectives, then you think of nouns that those adjectives describe. The first group of nouns and adjectives are called your “sun words” and the opposite ones are called your “shadow words”. Then you’re supposed to make up a “sun sentance” comprised of your “sun words” and a “shadow sentance”. Here are mine:

A raven rides the wind from a solitary young tree, one bird alone but safe, watching the crescent shyly from below, soaring above the warm pinkish soils of Earth and away from caring.

And my shadow sentance:

The companionable friendship of an outgoing puppy grows cold in the night apart from the belongingness of the community, where old redwoods live dangerously close to raging rivers and the onset of a harsh winter blizzard.

I am a raven. A raven is black and solitary, black being negative space, ravens being symbols of loneliness and isolation, soaring far above and detached from the lives of others.

I am wind. It’s invisible but it caresses, it holds, it lifts up and carries.

I seriously think I’m in need of some alone quiet Meia time. As much as I love Dan, I’m still an introvert…and really, I hardly ever get to be alone. I usually never want to, actually, until it suddenly hits me hard and then I go into hermit retreat mode. I think if I were more in touch with my feelings these days and emotionally healthier so I wasn’t so needy, I would be able to recognize my needs for alone time more often and things would be more balanced. But that’s not the way they are now, so I’ll have to make do. And that’s fine with me.
