Dan’s at the store right now getting groceries. I’m having leftover pizza for dinner, and he’s making himself pasta salad. He’s cool.

I am totally immersed in all these things I’m learning. Anything that tears me away from the computer is almost physically painful.

Aw, Michelle called this afternoon while we were in bed. I need to call her.

I also want to get going on some housework…I tried the Flylady thing, and my mission for the day was to set the timer for five minutes and dust the objects in the living room. I got that done in four! Whoop.

Leo is the fixed fire sign. Fixed signs are the most unchanging signs of all. Fire signs are the most idealistic. Leo is the sign most known for dedication to an ideal. (That’s the thing I’m most stubborn about…there are only a few things I really believe in.)

This devotion brings Leo the gifts of generosity, and faithfulness when they reach out to others. Leos are loyal to the core. Leo rules the heart, and Leos have a wonderful warmth and goodness of heart. (Yay, that’s me. :))

The Sun is the ruler of Leo. The Sun represents Ego. The “stereotype” of Leo is the fun-loving, boisterous, class clown type, or the showoff, but there’s more to Leo than that. (Yeah, that’s not me.)

Any planet in Leo indicates that the ego is sensitive or important in some way. That’s why Leos thrive on appreciation. They often end up on stage, although not all Leos are performers (in the strictest sense of the word). You can make a Leo happy by paying a sincere compliment. Go ahead, tell them how wonderful they are! (Please? *bat*bat*)

If the self-esteem is not strong, Leo can be painfully self-conscious. In response, Leo might either turn inward for fear of losing approval or being scorned, or they overcompensate and “show off,” constantly pulling the spotlight onto themselves. (The first one, obviously.)

Leo can also be so idealistic as to lose perspective. When others do not follow or agree with the ideal, Leo may adopt a judgmental attitude. (”It’s so obvious that this is the right way to do things. Why can’t they see this is the right way? These people must be on dope.”) (ROFL!)

Leo has a gift for inspiring other people. When they use the fire inside to focus the spotlight on other people’s good qualities, the effect is tremendous. That’s why they tend to be good with children. (:D Yay for kids!)

I have always been really dubious of astrology, not just because my former religion forbade it, but also because my results never seemed to fit me. According to the Zodiac, I’m a Leo, and Leos are extraverted, dynamic, willful, bossy, creative (true), warmhearted (true), gregarious, boisterous… Most of those qualities, if you know me, are totally not me. But all the things I’ve been learning lately seem to go hand in hand with astrology, so I felt almost obligated to give it some serious consideration. So that led me to the question…if I’m a Leo, then why don’t I act like one? Why don’t I feel like one?

I just subscribed to a nice message board at www.north-node.com, and found a page that answered my question. Apparently, the fact that I’m Leo only has to do with the sun’s influence on my personality…but the moon and all the planets have influence too, so the site directed me to another site (www.astro.com) that quickly calculated the locations of all the relevant celestial bodies when I was born. Turns out, amazingly enough, that they balanced the more boisterous and loud traits of Leo, and it sounds much more like the real me:

Sun in Leo, Moon in Libra

You were born with the Sun in Leo and the Moon in Libra. This is an excellent combination, which gives you good taste (true ;)), sociability (uhhh…), and the ability to take on authority when necessary (actually, yeah…just not the desire). Your inner psychological nature is proud, dignified, commanding, powerful, and very strong-willed (I guess that can be true. The things I say in my head are very different than the things I say out loud. I would never ever say what I think when I’m upset. Never.). You have natural leadership and a sense of creativeness (true on the creativeness…I would never think of myself as a natural leader). You are generous and faithful and can be trusted(Yep). The key words to your individuality or inner life are nobility, clarity, and faithfulness (nobility? Where does that come in? Faithfulness, yes. Clarity…only when I feel good). You are very vital and quick (mmmm, no, not quick. Vital?! Well I guess I can be lively when I feel comfortable and happy and full of alcohol. LOL). Inwardly you often feel unappreciated, because you expect from others the same frank treatment which you give to them (That can be very true). You tend to do everything on a rather grand scale (WTF?). Fortunately (LOL!), your personality comes under the rulership of the Moon in Libra, which channels these traits and makes them more suited to real life. Others view you essentially as an easy-going person who desires company and who knows how to create a pleasant atmosphere (Ahh, that’s better. :D). In love you are very charming and successful but somewhat unstable (LOL Don’t tell Dan!). You have within you the power and the ability to make the Libran qualities more profound and to soften your innate rougher traits (ARRR!!!). The result will be a better-integrated being.

Ascendant in Virgo, Mercury in the First House

This indicates that throughout your life you will assume a reserved, quiet, analytical, critical, and receptive attitude. (Reserved, quiet, yes. Analytical, yes, I love to analyze things, critical, no. I don’t like to criticize, and I’m not logical and detached enough to be considered critical. Receptive, very much so.)

Although you are not an individual with a very strong ambition, you possess the ability to persevere and exert ingenuity. (Very true on both counts.)

Some selfishness is noted. (This is true) However, if you are able to counteract this trait with your natural helpful and sympathetic attitude and address your positive qualities to resolve the problems of others then you will accomplish your highest spiritual duties and your degree of consciousness and perception will be expanded. (Yes, I believe my natural helpfulness and sympathy counteract that a lot, but I’m not too interested in solving others’ problems. I need to focus on my own…and other people need to focus on their own. ;))

You are not afraid to work (LOL! Am too!) but you like to do things where you can use intellectual resources rather than mechanical ones. (Yes, true.) There is some independence here but don’t try to be forceful about it because Virgo’s natural habitat is one in which the person is led by some powerful authority and where the important decisions are best made by others. (Huh. Well it’s true I have always tried to push decisions off on other people, but I wouldn’t think that’s healthy for me.)

You are very attentive to detail and this makes you a good worker, especially so in those jobs that require a great deal of precision and observation. (Eh, whatever. My attention to detail is about average…but I am not really into precision. Observation is good though.) You have a desire for purity (Emotional purity, yes. Physically I wanna be DIRTY! Business and practicality should be very important in your life. You are a useful and beneficial person. (Well that doesn’t sound like me so much. I don’t view myself as that graceful and mathematical. But that’s the way Virgos are. Maybe that part of me is more Leo.)

You are an excellent critic and analyst. (Well, for play, I like more relaxed stuff…watching the LOTR movies is intense enough for me. Intelligence is good. I love writing, I collect stickers. I hate being a middle man…I prefer to stay out of others’ business, though I am fascinated at watching the negotiating skills of middle men (happy mediums? LOL). Selling and communicating, that’s not my favorite thing in the world. Although I do tend to enjoy communication more when I’m feeling well emotionally.)

Mercury Conjunct Ascendant

Mercury conjunct the Ascendant shows that you are intensely preoccupied with yourself. You probably start your conversation with I more often than most people do. (ROFLMAO! Umm, yeah, that’s so true it smarts. ;))

Your mental faculties are well-developed, and for the most part you are bright and witty, so your incessant use of personal pronouns may be tolerated. You are mentally impulsive and rarely give anyone the chance to answer your questions. You are not afraid to speak up when you know you are right, but the fact is, you are not always right. But it’s like there’s a huge gulf between the me inside and the expression of the me…it’s just impossible. That’s just…incredibly sad. It makes me want to cry. If I really said and did the things in my head…did what I imagined myself doing, saying the words that scream or shout inside, I would be an abusive person, I think. I would throw things, throw tantrums, scream at people, insult them. But I would also dance, and sing, and make love, and …I don’t even know. I’m afraid to be more uninhibited because I scare myself.)
