Been doodling

Filed under: Artwork — admin on Friday, December 31, 2004 @ 2:11 am

I thought I’d scan and post some of them. I’ve been experimenting with perspectives in the human form…well, female form, actually…I don’t draw men very often. ;) You’ll have to forgive the lettering on some of the doodles…I drew them in my crossword puzzle book from the store, heh. Anyway, the first three I drew yesterday and the last three I drew today.

This one I mostly focused on the arms and hands, on one leg a little bit, and also focused on the folds of the fabric.

Eh…what the hell…it won’t upload. Damn! I even tried a different browser, and it still won’t work. :(

Awww how cute!

What religion suits you?

Take the quiz: “WHAT RELIGION BESTS SUITS YOU?”

Agnostic
You’ve probably studied loads of different religions, but you’re just not sure if any of it is true. Evolution makes some sense to you, but it doesn’t satisfy you. Lastly, your personality is one of question, but you won’t go out of your way to find -The Truth- It’s more of a hobby.

Back from the holidays!

Happy holidays to everyone! (Thanks for the message, Lauren!) ;)

We just got back from our Christmas Seattle trip today. I forgot to take any pictures, unfortunately… I met my two favorite people from the boards (that I hadn’t met yet)…Maybesbabies and Ratboy. YAY!!!

Dan has a cold…I gave it to him just in time for the trip. We were both exhausted because we haven’t been sleeping well this weekend…so we crashed almost immediately after getting home. Ahhhh

I love Seattle. When I was on the plane there, they mentioned the Puget Sound, and I just got this warm, aching, happy feeling wash through me, this feeling like I was coming home. We drove through Seattle (in our friends’ car) in the dark. Dan and the rest of them were happily talking and chatting while I stared out my window at the space needle and other city lights with tears streaming down my face…it felt so good to be ‘home’.

I don’t know what it is about the Pacific Northwest. I just don’t know what it is.

The actual ‘apostafest’ was a blast…it was in a hotel meeting room, and there was good food and drink. I feel like I’m finally back to my normal party-self again. When I was a Witness I loved parties because I would wander around and mingle with everybody and talk and laugh and feel all warm and fuzzy. I have been so depressed for the past year and a half that I’ve been nothing more than a shadow at my husband’s elbow at parties…but I was relieved and overjoyed to realize that I had changed, healed, without even noticing it. I was back to my happy mingling lovey party self. I hugged everyone in the room when I left…it was so hilarious that everyone just stopped talking and watched me running around hugging everybody…then I felt embarrassed so I just turned and RAN out the door and everybody was laughing at how funny I was. :D

Our friends who put us up were SO generous. They were a really nice couple, and my buddy Meesh and her husband stayed there too. The husband, Jason, is an awesome chef and treated us to the most delicious food I’d had outside of a gourmet restaurant. *drool* I went to bed with a happy tummy every night!

I’m off to bed soon though…it’s been a long weekend and as much as I hate Boise, it is good to be back in our own bed again. Ahhhh…

What’s Your Holiday Theme Song?

Looks like you might be the sentimentalist in the crowd. You, more than others, revel in the nostalgia of the season. Some may think it’s a little bit sappy, but you can’t help it if you feel all gushy at the first sight of snow, the scent of evergreens, or the first airing of It’s a Wonderful Life.

You’re one who picks up on traditions, and you probably like to pass them on, as well. That ornament over there, we bet it has a good story attached to it. Truth is, Santa himself probably couldn’t spread as much Christmas spirit as you’re capable of. While others are mired in materialism, you keep the holiday’s true meaning closer to your heart. So keep on dreaming of a white Christmas with every Christmas card you write. May your days be merry and bright. And may all your Christmases be white.

Guess what…I took up knitting! It’s fun. I learned to knit when I was a little kid, along with crocheting and cross stitch and a few other crafty things. I liked cross stitch the best at the time, but got bored with it after a while. These days I just think it’s ugly. If I’m going to make something, a scene or a visual to hang on the wall, I’m going to paint it, not stitch it. I liked crocheting too…knitting was too confusing for me. When I was a senior in high school I took up crocheting again, and brought my stuff to school and crocheted doilies. (doilies??)

Last winter and the winter before I tried crocheting a scarf, but it was a mess. All crooked…and funny!

But lately at work I have been seeing these learn to knit books…and the projects just look so FUN! Stuff I’d *love* to wear, like faery hats and fuzzy leg warmers and a poofy pink scarf. Even more difficult stuff I’d like to try some day…like the faux fur vest. There is also a fuzzy knit dress I saw in another book that would be a blast to wear. Hehe.

Anyway, I’m working on a long grey scarf. Because that’s what it recommends starting with…just the basic knit stitch, over and over, so you can get used to it. Knitting is more complicated than crochet, but it’s so much more versatile and much more likely to turn out well. You don’t have to count, for one thing. I’m bad at that. Bleh.

I wish I had a digital camera with which I could quickly update my progress for you visually. Oh well… ;)

Hehe…aw. I think this is cute.

jkkh
Aww…you are the plant of love! You are the
mistletoe! You are a loving, romantic person
who likes to do what is best for the one or
ones you care about mostly. You are very
affectionate and enjoy being close to people.
You believe that love brings you together,
which is a wonderful thing. You are most likely
going to have a very nice and marvelous season.
Your inventive mind could come up with anything
interesting to do. Merry Christmas =)

Today I did the hard work of driving around dropping off resumes. I’m very happy with myself…this is the first time I’ve ever been unhappy with a job and actually gone out to try to do something to change it.

First I dropped one off at Thomas Hammer…but they’ve just hired a bunch of people and the lady was very cool to me. I left my resume just in case.

At SoHo I had the most pleasant and hopeful experience…there were two ladies in their thirties inside, and I asked if they were hiring. She said not right now, but if I had a resume… and I plunked it down on the counter like I was plunking down the winning discard in a card game. She seemed pleasantly surprised and even excited, and grabbed it and started looking through it. She seemed impressed, asked about my availability and preferred hours, and said they weren’t hiring right then but that some changes were in the works, and they’d probably be giving me a call.

At Moxie Java, there was a young guy working there. I felt encouraged by the fact that he had dyed messy hair, a lip ring, and was wearing an old t-shirt. And was reading a novel. :D He said he didn’t know whether they were hiring, but he took my resume and said his manager would be in in the morning and he would make sure she got it. :)

So things are definitely looking up! Wish me luck!
