This made me laugh. Haha

Oh…OK. Take Two!

Upon closer inspection of the recall instructions, my bike doesn’t fall into the serial number range of the recalled bikes. Luckily there are assembly instructions online, and now I know I need an allen wrench to tighten the handlebar enough so that it works. Yay! I’m going bike riding tonight!!

BAH! :(

Argh, I’m so frustrated. :( I got my bike mailed to me for my birthday…it’s even more beautiful than the photograph!

You have to assemble it yourself. So I bought a wrench, because apparently we lost our old one, and assembled away in a blissful pile of cardboard and screwdrivers and nuts and bolts. Except the handlebar won’t tighten all the way…as good as I could get it would still have you moving the handlebars while the front wheel stayed straight. :| After some bicycle wrestling, I finally caved and looked up the assembly instructions online (they didn’t come with the bike. I ordered it from Wal-Mart…I guess you can’t expect anything as high-class as instructions or an owner’s manual or anything like that). And it turns out that there’s a recall on the model of bike I had because of the handlebars. :(

After I elicited Dan’s help in wrestling the handlebars back off the bike, I have to wait til tomorrow to call Huffy’s customer service. It should be rather painless…they send me new handlbars and a special little wrench for free, and pay the shipping of my old handlebars back to them. I should probably complain to Wal-Mart for selling me an unsafe bike that needed a recall. :| I’m just really bummed because I thought I was going to go bike riding tonight. :(

Mmmm…birthdays.

Filed under: General — admin on Sunday, August 14, 2005 @ 10:54 pm

I love having a birthday. I wish I could have one every month. Or maybe we could at least step it up to every six months? ;)

I had an extraordinarily wonderful weekend. Thursday night Dan and I went out for dinner at Mona Lisa Fondue. We had a $100 gift certificate from where he works so we barely had to worry about it. ;) Neither of us had eaten there…we’ve eaten at the other fondue place in town, what’s-it-called… but this one was slightly more upscale and upstairs. LOL. We had a bottle of wine and …CHEESE. Lots of gooey melty cheese with garlic and all sorts of delicious goodness in it. And tender meats with lots of fun sauces, and dark chocolate. Gooey warm dark chocolate with amaretto in it. Oh my god. We both felt like we were going to explode afterwards. You can’t really ask to take leftovers home! So you have to eat it all there! You HAVE TO.

Friday night my RPG buddies wanted to throw a party for me at their house and cook me food! I was soooooooo touched by that. I was all content to have a quiet party-less birthday (instead of forcing people to come over and celebrate my birthday because of the party I threw last year ;)) and there I got one thrown in my honor. Awww. Every time I thought about it I got all choked up. There were a lot of people there too! Brian and Katy (sp?) bought me a Cookie Monster t-shirt! It’s pink and it’s reeeeeeally soft. ;) Dawn and Nick gave me these really pretty faery shot glasses and little bottles of peppermint schnapps and Grand Marnier. *drool* They made a pitcher of White Russian and I drank…a whole lot of it. I got drunk…I haven’t been drunk (I accidentally typed dronk) in, like, a year or more! It was heavenly. We played Apples to Apples, which is now my favorite game. Riotous fun, that. Oh, and the homemade lasagne was delicious. :9

The next night we got to go over there again for our RPG! My favorite funny man John ran this game, and at times it was rolling-on-the-floor laughter. And we’re going to start a D&D game too!!! I am SOOO stoked for that. I like cyberpunk -a lot-, but I think D&D is just more up my alley. I think it will be easier for me to play. Cyberpunk burns my brains too much. 50% of the time I’m sitting there going, “huh?” and everyone else is just running with it. 75% of the time everyone is waaaaaay ahead of me anyway. D&D seems like it will come much more naturally to me. Whee!

Tomorrow I get to go to the gynecologist. Not so much fun.

Oh but I forgot…Dan’s sweet grandparents sent me a birthday present of $200!! Ohmigod, I don’t think I’ve ever had that much spending money at once just to myself to spend on whatever I want….at least….not for a very long time! I’ve already spent some of it on books. Some of it is going to be partly spent on my birthday bike (coming soon to a Meia near you!) and accessories for it. (Basket…gotta have a basket…and a lock.)

My Bowie birthday shirt should be coming in the mail tomorrow or the next day. Ceramica, downtown, is hiring, so I’m going to give them my resume tomorrow or the next day. I don’t have to work until Thursday. I get to go shopping. I’mna buy CLOTHES. I miss clothes. I have some, but I’m tired of most of them.

I’m chatty cause I just read Stacey’s blog. She’s cool. 8) Reading active blogs always inspires me to write more in mine.

Brightvale Day

Filed under: Artwork, Games — admin on @ 1:40 am

This is for Brightvale Day, which is August 11, my birthday. ;) They didn’t say whether or not they were going to have an art gallery for that day, but just in case, this is a light faerie gazing down over a view of Brightvale.

Meridell Day

For some reason, Neopets never uploaded pics for Meridell Day, even though they had said they were going to. The sillies. Anyway, this is what I entered:

Art

Filed under: General — admin on @ 12:07 am

I have been doing art lately, still. I have three pictures I’d like to post but I’ve run out of web space for pics on my site. *pokes Dan again* I just finished one, actually. Moody and mostly black, with a sorrowful face in dark colors. It was fun to do because coloring in highlights with colors lighter than the background is a fun change from the usual shading in on a light background. Yay. ;)

Edit: I can’t wait any more! I opened up a photobucket account and now I can continue uploading stuff. Yay!

Goodbye twenties!

Filed under: General — admin on Wednesday, August 10, 2005 @ 12:56 pm

Wow, I can’t believe it, but today is my last day of being in my twenties. I’m excited about the idea of being thirty, but it’s kind of a sobering thought. ;)

This is going to be the best birthday ever! Dan’s buying me a bike ***YAY!!!***, my RPG friends are throwing me a party (I don’t have to throw myself a party this year!) and tons of totally cool and fun and sweet people are going to be there, we have a coupon to a fondue restaurant, and I’m buying myself a David Bowie shirt that has the cover of Low on it…which is my favorite album, and my favorite picture of him ever.
